From La Serena, take the route CH -41 east to the mountains, to Gualliguaica.
Desde Santiago tomar Ruta 5 Norte en dirección a La Serena (430 km). Desde la Serena en dirección este tomar ruta Internacional CH -41 en dirección a Vicuña, Valle del Elqui. Avanzado el embalse por su lado norte tomar desvió a la izquierda hacia Gualliguaica.

| | 41 kms. from La Serena is one of the most important engineering works of the zone: Embalse Puclaro. It has capacity for 200 million cubic meters of water in a surface of 760 hectares. This work was inaugurated the 27 of October of 1999 by the President of the Republic of Chile, Eduardo Frei Ruiz Tagle
One of the best spots in the world for kiteboarding, always windy,
strong wind.
it´s a lake in the middle of nature, amazing place.
great for windsurfing to,
the best season is from september to april, 18 to 30 knots.
you will need a small windsurf board and small sails.
in summer (january and february) you can sail only with a lycra or a spring suit.
for the other months you will be ok with a 3/2mm full suit.
there is no rental, so take your equipment.
There are to areas for sail and to set up your equipment.... Once you are in "Gualliguaica" looking to the lake, the left area is the kitezone and the right the windsurfzone. respect this.
BE A HUMAN; BE CLEAN; DON´T LEAVE THE GARBAGE THERE, TAKE ALWAYS ALL AND LEAVE IT IN A GARBAGE CAN IN GUALLIGUAICA, VICUÑA OR LA SERENA.
DON´T POLUTE SUCH BEAUTIFUL PLACE.
