It's a gusty but powerful wind coming off the mountains. if there's no wind 20km away, this place can still have 30kts!
It's a lagoon. Pretty small launch area but still popular with beginners as it's shallow.
it's good for serious speed freaks, wipika have been seen testing speed boards here.

Some extra bits - Brilliant on seawind too blowing from SE. The Tramontana can be super gusty here and if its too strong head to Barcares. If theres SE wind but only 8-10kts head straight to St.Cyprien south of Leucate. You'll be guaranteed 20kts and sweet wind waves...
