| | This is an absolutely perfect kite- and surf spot. It is just about 300 meters from the Intercontinental Hotel Abu Soma, 30 minutes south from Hurghada. The Hotel is a 5-Star Grand Hotel. Google shows construction in 2004. Now it is finished with lush green gardens, hundreds of palm trees all the way to the tip by the sea. It has a huge pool, phantastic grounds with golf-lawn and 6 restaurants. Nearest town is Safaga, appr. 5 km (not very interesting). At the tip (end) of the garden area is a Mark Warner Station with windsurfing and kiting, also boats and diving. The perfect spot however, lies appr. 300 meters north, just to the right side of the wall (light colored area). The huge practicing area shows clearly in dark-brown color on google-earth, it is only up to two feet deep at high tide, with no water at low tide. Thus perfect for beginners and intermediates. Kiters have lots of room to the north, windsurfers are in the south. (Consider the wall (as an extended line) as the dividing line). The station - new since 2005 and not yet shown on Google - belongs to www.surfmotion.com, see more pictures on their internet-site. The station is located in the light-grey area shown on the google map, directly on the edge of the water (the shallow water at low tide shows in brown color). It provides everything from drinks, snacks, chairs, surf-, kite-, and board rental, repair and rescue services, lots of surf- and kiteboards, sails and kites of all sizes. This is one of the finest spots in Egypt.
